Ruth for Find a Nursing Home
Continuing care

However long you stay in South Yorkshire, you will certainly receive a warm Yorkshire welcome. The county is divided into four local government districts; the City of Sheffield, the Metropolitan Borough of Doncaster, the Metropolitan Borough of Barnsley and the Metropolitan Borough of Rotherham.

South Yorkshire supports a population of over one million, with a huge number of respite, residential and nursing care homes to choose from. If you enjoy the outdoors, South Yorkshire is the gateway to the Peak District National Park, Pennine Yorkshire, and the Trans Pennine Trail, which cuts right across the region.

The older generation will recall that South Yorkshire was once renowned for the production of coal and steel, but these industries have declined to be replaced by a more service-based economy. Nowadays the area is home to award-winning galleries, live comedy clubs, nightclubs and music venues. From the oldest classic horse race in the world, the St Leger, to World Championship Snooker, South Yorkshire also has an enviable programme of world-class events.

With excellent rail links, the county is less than 90 minutes from London and is served by five airports within an hour's journey time. And with excellent access to the motorway network the area is easily accessible from all parts of the country.
